Republicans Give More to Charity than Democrats – New Research
Posted on January 28th, 2013 by 1B
PeterSchiffBlog.com – More myths from Stossel – http It seems that most people think that Democrats give more to charity than Democrats, because they are perceived as more caring. But as it turns out, Republicans give more to charity privately, while Democrats favor more government spending. It is also revealed that the working poor, of whichever political affiliation, give more to charity than any other group. However, the working poor shouldn’t be confused with people who are on welfare or who receive other government aid.

What countries would that? be?
People are selfish because we live in a “republican” society? So most people are selfish because of republicans… -_-. Also, who said republicans are for the wealthy? As far as I know, republicans in the United States are talking about lowering taxes across the board for everyone, not just the wealthy. “The government should be more charitable”. Except the government gets money from those evil corporations and business CEOs. I mean, really?? Does anybody think this through?
@andrewm153351 The United States is the most prosperous nation in the? world… We are the center of the global economy and have the largest economy in the world. China depends on us for them to manufacture our products, they’re unable to innovate or produce anything of their own because their businesses are government owned under a socialist system. But, believe what you want. Whatever floats your boat.
At the end of the day, jesus was ALL about welfare of the poor. If you honestly deny that, you’re even more brainwashed than i thought.? i mean, you already have to be brainwashed to believe in a ridiculous religion in the first place.
Again, the most prosperous countries in the world today are more socialistic and less religious than the US.
Period.
The happiest, healthiest nations? are a combination of socialism and capitalism. Socialism on it’s own fails, just as laissez faire capitalism fails. America is not one or the other.
The New Deal didn’t fail. Things got much worse after a return to austerity.
“Forcing others to give takes voluntary action out of the equation.”
Unless the government forces you to remain in? this country, it’s not forced charity. You can leave.
” If you’d like to look at starvation since the New Deal look the controlled? economies of Kim Jong Il, or Robert Mugabe.”
Good thing we live in a mixed economy, in which capitalism and socialism coexist. We are nothing like North Korea.
I didn’t ignore the west, you were ignoring the east. You were correlating atheism with prosperity, I gave you examples of where this correlation does not hold. In the west Christian populations dwindle as the public sector continues to loot the private.
As for your quote, if faith can move mountains the camel trick shouldn’t be too hard. The biblical teaching about riches is that to whom much is? given much is expected.
Caesar helped the poor. He built roads and secured the borders.
Sure Jesus was down for caring for the poor. He led by example and spent a lot of time with the poor. However he didn’t advocate progressive taxation and social security. He didn’t suggest that people band together and force other people to give to the poor. Do you not see the difference between? taxation for welfare and charity?
Caesar is a whole other story. That refers to giving your money to a government that doesn’t help the poor. That says NOTHING about welfare.
If you’re ACTUALLY trying to say Jesus didn’t teach to care for the poor, then you’re hilariously brainwashed.
“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven” –Jesus
You listed all of the countries in the east, ignoring the west.
The east will be the east, regardless? of religious beliefs..
Obama may agree? with you, but someone who actually knows something about theology knows better. Jesus said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s. Charity may be a virtue but taxation is not, and when more is given to Caesar less is left for God.
I don’t think that the least religious countries are the most prosperous. Maoist China wasn’t very prosperous, nor Stalinist Russia, or present day Korea.
What argument about despair are you referring to?
“unchristian welfare entitlements”
That has got to be the? utmost retarded, completely laughable statement i have ever heard in my LIFE.
One of Jesus’s most common teachings was to take care of the poor. Helping the poor was the whole sentiment of Jesus’s teachings.
The fact of the matter is that the least religious countries are the most prosperous, which shreds the whole christian argument that atheism leads to despair.
Let me get this straight. Christian nations have advanced in leaps and bounds for centuries. Now that these nations are loosing their faith you assert that atheism is the driving force of wealth? creation? Now that western countries are failing, and failing in large part due to unchristian welfare entitlements, you want to make a connection between atheism and prosperity?
Private charity has failed in comparison to what? Public charity? ‘Public charity’ is an oxymoron. If governments take from individuals and give to others it isn’t public charity. Forcing others to give takes voluntary action out of the equation. What you’re? referring to is wealth redistribution. If you’d like to look at starvation since the New Deal look the controlled economies of Kim Jong Il, or Robert Mugabe.
Charity can’t create food that doesn’t exist and and free? markets can’t create utopia. The great depression was created by huge losses in wealth caused by dust storms. These storms were an unforeseen consequence of deforestation. The new deal made matters worse. Government allocation of goods was characteristically inefficient. You suggest that ‘private charity’ always fails but it is socialism which always fails.
What about promised charity that hasn’t been given yet? Warren Buffett will be donating 99% of? his wealth when he passes.
We tried the private charity method in the early 20th century, and it failed, as? it has throughout history. Around 7 million people died during the Great Depression because private charities were not able to meet the needs of everyone. How many millions have died from famine since the New Deal? Exactly.
Notice how all you could so is call my comments “logical fallacies” without going into further detail as in WHY.
What did i say that wasn’t true? Was it the part where i said the least religious countries have the highest standard of living, life expectancy,? and lowest crime rate?
Because that’s not even up for debate, that’s purely factual information. I dare you to prove me wrong.
You managed at least 5 logical fallacies in that last reply, well done. With your general level of intellectual bankruptcy I’d say avoiding being pwned in a real debate was a? good choice.
You can respond with some more random worthless BS if it will make you feel better, but until you grow a pair and do some real study, it’ll be just that; BS.
My first point to you will be, why do you believe in bronze age old nonsense stories in the bible that have virtually no basis in reality, and have been thoroughly debunked by science.
Why do you find your god moral, when in fact, he’s the? most immoral thing imaginable.
Why is it that the least religious western countries have the highest standards of living, highest life expectancy, lowest crime rates, etc
Where’s your god?
Coward? Ok then little boy.
I? have a 30-year head start and have debated a hundred sfb liberals just like you.
If you think you can hack it with Google “facts” and a government-school education, be my guest, let’s debate. You appear to have a 90-word vocabulary and the debating skills of a 10 year-old but who knows, maybe you’ll learn something.
My first point to you will be: Why I thought I knew everything but was in fact as dumb as dog poo when I was 22.
lol and that’s all you can do, act like someone else’s sources are false, just because you can find them on google.
Everything i stated has factual? basis. Period. I would love to debate you on a certain topic, but we both know you won’t do that. You christians sure do turn cowardly when you’re confronted on your bullshit.
That is precisely why reasoning with you is a waste of time. Anyone who thinks they can? get an accurate view of a subject with a 2-second Google search is unthinking, unlearned and hopelessly credulous.
“It’s so obvious you are just making stuff up of the top of your head”
Everything i stated can be found with a 2 second google search. Facts? are facts, whether you like them or not.
You know what, I change my mind. I don’t want to talk to you.
It’s so obvious you? are just making stuff up off the top of your head.
I can’t think of one person that I know personally at? the church I go to that is as ignorant and dismissive as you have shown yourself to be in a few short paragraphs, and I just don’t think I can stomach yet another 22 year old gamer that impugns anything he cannot immediately explain.
It’s an exercise in futility.
